Eddie Carter writes:
Yahhoooooo! What a joy to find this new music, that’s after my 50 years of the same excitement with discoveries of The Dead, The Beatles, The Byrds, The Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Kate Bush, Jeff Buckley, Eno, Tangerine Dream, (even a rare few episodes of Hearts of Space), K&D, Theivery Corp., Etc, ..... you’re ranking baby! And yes, yours is post-rock, mature, relaxing, stimulating, without all the stress, a veritable service to mankind (no joke hear).
I’m often praising the British scene but am now reminded of the utter power that occasionally pops up from all that shit in the USA.
I just got a high-speed connection, living up in a mountain outside of Grenoble, and soon found BBC3’s Mixing It, and your Reaching won the show. Quite a show, too, I also discovered Angels of Light and from there The Young God world, so am really buzzing.
A life of Sequence was a great relief, because it’s as good as Reaching, I knew I was onto something intense. So with Parts Attack the chill bumps arrived on my skin, then Thread is the best of all, sending tingles up my spine.
That said, on Parts Attack, the bass could be 3 or 4 times stronger, no different notes or rythym, just louder, to create a clearer path of expanding soft pillows to wander through the song.
My brain stays primed with sugar so I can’t listen to a song without homing in on places that might seem (albeit personally) a little off, a little less lyrical. And your balance of lyricism and sweet harmony with interesting, inspiring exploration is some of the best ever.
But you know how difficult it is to remain objective while crafting a work of art. Ever thought about sending out some of your work in progress, especially things you’re stuck on, not quite flowing, and see what others might see and feel? What? You’ve already got a couple of them sitting on the couch right now? Well they’re pretty damn good! But why not gimme a chance too.
