THE SKY POSITION WINS OBA FOR POETRY
Monday December 3, 2007
Last night, our beloved Tom Blood was honored with the Literary Arts’ Staffard/Hall Oregon Book Award in Poetry for The Sky Position!!!!
From the L-A website: Judge Donald Revell praised Blood’s gift of perception as “a beautiful act of absolute sympathy and attention, a continuous evidence of perfect compassion.”
Other printed recognition: Statesman Journal, The Oregonian.
Buy the book here.

Congratulations, Mr. Blood, you deserve it!
Also, Tom will be traveling back to Los Angeles today to continue touring with the Watery Graves of Portland and Rob Walmart. Check them out in your city or town and enjoy this video Carlos took from on the road:

i am overwhelmed with joy about this. tom has been working for a couple decades on poetry with virtually no recognition from more established scenes… that literary arts has recognized him is a major turn for our crew and for tom. freaking amazing.

Ever since I saw Tom Blood perform at Reed, and then a few months later as “Grand Junction, Grand Therapy” at Towne Lounge, I realized that this man is amazing. Congratulations to something that is well deserved.
